Li Xiaohong calls for comprehensive cooperation at 26th World Mining Congress

Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), was invited to attend the 26th World Mining Congress held on June 27, 2023 by making a pre-recorded video presentation.


The congress focused on "Resourcing Tomorrow: Creating Value for Society” and covered a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence, decarbonization, environmental sustainability, geoscience, health and safety, social governance, technology and operations.


Li’s presentation, entitled "Energy System and Future Trends of Energy and Minerals under the Carbon Neutrality Goals," was played during the plenary session. He introduced the current situation of China's energy system, outlined progress in carbon emissions reduction, and proposed suggestions for international cooperation from the perspective of building a community with a shared future for mankind.


The World Mining Congress has served as the pre-eminent gathering of the global mining and resources industry, aiming to promote international cooperation and progress in the fields of mining sciences, technologies, economics, mining safety and environmental protection. This year's conference, held in Brisbane, Australia, attracted more than 3,600 participants from over 70 countries.
