Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), met with David Noon, Queensland Division Chair of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), on May 22, 2023.

Noon conveyed the greetings of Katherine Woodthorpe, the new president of the ATSE, to Li and her willingness to seek cooperation. The two sides have agreed to work together in planning cooperation in the fields of climate change and clean energy transition.

Li introduced the modes and specific ways of cooperation between the CAE and engineering academies in many countries, such as the US, the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Japan and South Korea. He proposed carrying out practical cooperation between the CAE and the ATSE through joint projects, seminars, and mutual visits and exchanges.

The two sides also discussed the high-level meeting between the two academies and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation. In addition, the two academies confirmed their support of the 26th World Mining Congress (WMC2023) and exchanged ideas on other matters.
