CAE’s maglev research project holds mid-term meeting in Beijing
The "Research on Magnetic Levitation Power Equipment and Its Industrial Development Path," a strategic research and consulting project by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), held its mid-term seminar in Beijing on October 9, 2023.
CAE member Peng Suping presided over the meeting attended by more than 40 CAE members, experts and members of the project team.
The team reported from the project overview, research milestones and key tasks. The meeting included an in-depth discussion on various issues, such as equipment application, key technologies, and policy and commercialization challenges, and also offered targeted proposals.
The project leader, CAE member Ling Wen, said that maglev technology was a disruptive technology characterized by no contact friction, no energy loss, and high-speed operation. The commercialization of such equipment is important to achieve China's dual carbon goals. The team will fully absorb the opinions and suggestions of CAE members and experts, further strengthen the research, meet the task requirements, and put forward scientific, forward-looking and effective suggestions.
