Seminar held for research on critical carbon emission issues
A seminar on the project "Research on Critical Issues of Peaking Carbon Emissions and Achieving Carbon Neutrality in China" was held at the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) on November 23, 2023.
CAE member and project leader Shu Yinbiao presided over the meeting. Participants also included Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the CAE, and several members of the research team.
Professor Michael Hood presented a report titled "Towards Net Zero Carbon Emissions", and CAE member He Kebin discussed "Achieving Carbon Neutrality Requires Stronger Global Innovation and Cooperation." Participating CAE members and experts held lively exchanges and discussions on topics such as carbon emission reduction, carbon capture and storage technologies, cost control of renewable energy, and international energy cooperation.
Zhong noted that in response to the global challenge of climate change, only by strengthening international cooperation and uniting the strength of all parties can we find the way for sustainable development for all mankind. As a national high-end think tank, the CAE will continue to harness the wisdom of its members and provide innovative solutions for reducing carbon emissions. Committed to the principles of openness, inclusiveness, cooperation and sharing, the CAE will serve as an international platform for engineering science and technology, collaborating with global partners to promote sustainable development worldwide.
