A completion meeting on research into smart highway development, a strategic research and major consultation project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), was held in Beijing on November 10, 2023. Chaired by CAE member Fu Zhihuan, the meeting included more than 80 experts and scholars from relevant units.

It was agreed in the meeting that the project integrated theory and practice, emphasized a systematic approach in building smart highways, showcased innovative and problem-solving approaches in delivering a high-quality report, and also successfully held the 375th China Engineering Science and Technology Forum. The meeting called the project strategic, targeted, practical, and significant in piloting Chinese path to a modernized transportation system as it helps accelerate the development of a transportation powerhouse and societal digital transformation.
