The 353rd China Engineering Science and Technology Forum together with the 12th China Molecular Diagnostics Technology Conference were held in Wuhan, Hubei Province from March 25 to 26, 2023.

Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Chen Ping, Vice Governor of Hubei, and Cao Xuetao, Deputy Head of the National Health Commission of China, joined the conference jointly organized by the CAE, Tsinghua University and the Beijing National Engineering Research Centre for Biochips.

Other participants included over 10 academicians and nearly 1,000 experts and scholars from universities, hospitals, research institutes, enterprises, and government departments.

In his speech, Li said in recent years China has made significant progress in molecular diagnostics (MDx) technology and industrial applications. He called for innovation-driven efforts to become a pioneer in biomedicine development while ensuring safety and protecting people’s heath.

Experts joined in-depth exchanges and discussions on five themes: MDx for tumors, metabolic disorders and kidney/rheumatic diseases, cardiovascular and genetic diseases, infectious diseases, and new technologies and quality control.

The meeting shared information on major achievements in the field of biomedical research while exploring the latest hot topics and facilitating the integration of resources from government, industry, academia and research for cooperation. It also helped seize opportunities in the development of precision medicine and MDx technological self-reliance to support implementation of the Healthy China strategy.
