Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), held a work meeting in Beijing with Lei Mingshan, Chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), on the morning of August 23, 2023.

The meeting included an in-depth exchange on cooperation in better serving the country's major strategies along with conducting strategic consulting research and promoting collaborative technological innovation. Deng Xiuxin and Wu Manqing, Vice Presidents of the CAE, and Wang Liangyou, Deputy General Manager of CTG, also participated in the meeting.

Lei introduced the corporation’s development and expressed his gratitude for CAE’s long-term support and assistance to CTG in various areas such as strategic planning, hydropower project construction, scheduling of cascade reservoirs, ecological and environmental protection, and clean energy. He said he hoped both sides can further deepen cooperation in strengthening the country's strategic scientific and technological forces and major initiatives, contributing more to achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals and accelerating China’s transition into a technologically powerful country.

In welcoming the delegation, Li noted that CTG has made significant contributions to the development of China's water conservancy projects, with its main business expanding into multiple areas such as clean energy and ecological and environmental protection. He also said that the two sides should jointly conduct in-depth studies on national major strategies such as high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt while providing scientific and intellectual support for the strategy’s implementation, and making greater contributions to the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.
