CAE Honorary Chairman Xu Kuangdi Met with Oleg Deripaska, CEO of Basic Element Group, Russia

CAE Honorary Chairman Xu Kuangdi met with Oleg Deripaska, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Basic Element Group, Russia, at CAE office building on May 20, 2011. Both sides exchanged views extensively on issues like cooperative efforts in the field of energy, infrastructure construction from Russia to China, joint studies on clean energy technology, among others. 

After giving a brief introduction of the general information about CAE, as well as major consulting projects carried out by CAE lately, Xu suggested that cooperation should be further promoted in the frontiers of energy, like coal liquefaction technology, high voltage transmission technology, smart grid technology and small nuclear power plant technology between both sides. Oleg Deripaska affirmed the great significance of its long-term collaboration with China to Russia and the Basic Element Group itself, who also showed approval of Xu’s suggestions, and extended his willingness to further strengthen cooperation with research institutes and enterprises in China. 

Basic Element is Russia's leading diversified investment company, which was founded in 1997. Basic Element's main assets are concentrated in seven sectors - energy, resources, auto manufacturing, financial services, aviation, construction service and building materials production as well as infrastructure and land development. About 250,000 people work at the Group's companies in Russia, the CIS, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and Latin America. With more than 100 companies, in recent years its revenues were consistently growing. The annual total income of the Group in 2010 adds up to $18 billion, whose market value exceeds $ 23 billion.
