The China Pratacultural Industry Development Strategy Research Centre jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Lanzhou University advanced two research projects on March 27, 2022 in Lanzhou, Gansu province. 

Prof. Huang Jikun outlined research progress on the study “Economic Value Assessment and Development Strategy in the Grassland Ecosystem”. Experts at the meeting said the project has a novel research methodology and is making smooth progress in its scientific studies. It was suggested that the study absorb results from other disciplines, refine the assessment, improve accuracy and propose results that are within reach。

CAE member Nan Zhibiao reported on preparation of the project "Strategic Research on Sustainable Development Approaches and Models in Grassland Agriculture". In the view of experts, the project has started with solid preparations, a reasonable research topic and correct technical approaches. They suggested a clear understanding of the climate conditions and productivity in different types of grassland as well as alignment with state strategies including ecological restoration and rural vitalization while promoting market-oriented and diversified development to finally solve the forage shortage in China.

The project teams said they will take the opinions and suggestions into full consideration, and further improve their research.
