A meeting to review the 2019 mid-and-long term projects by the Chinese Academy of Engineering was held in Beijing on April 26, 2022 with an online-onsite format. The Strategic Research on Coal Mine Dust Prevention and Control and Occupational Safety and Health for the Next 20 Years project passed the review.

The review panel said the project team had conducted in-depth studies on the frontlines of coal mines, carried out extensive academic exchanges at home and abroad, and systematically analyzed the current situation and challenges in the endeavor.

According to the panel, the research has summarized the trend in new cases of pneumoconiosis and proposed a three-tier prevention system and a theory for multi-stakeholder collaboration. The meeting agreed that the research is expected to provide scientific and technological support and strategic guidance for occupational safety and health of coal mine workers in the next 20 years.
