Project on liver cancer fight concludes mid-term meeting in Beijing

The "Strategic Research on Conquering Cancer in China -Action Plan for Liver Cancer," a key consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), held a mid-term progress meeting in Beijing on October 9, 2022.

 

Officials and experts from the Planning Department of the National Health Commission, the China National Centre for Biotechnology Development of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Research and Development Affairs Office of Tsinghua University attended the meeting.

 

The project places particular emphasis on precise prevention, precise medical treatment, and precise management. The aim is to develop an action plan against liver cancer with Chinese characteristics, through strengthening top-level design, implementing systematic measures, and realizing key breakthroughs.

 

The meeting included reporting on the research progress related to the three areas, as well as valuable suggestions from the attending academicians and experts.

 

The project expects to establish a forward-looking paradigm for liver cancer prevention and control based on precise and smart medical treatment. He said he hopes the project can become a global model for liver cancer fight, providing guidance for the prevention and control of other cancers too.
