The “Strategic Research of Green Mining in Support of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality”, a key consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), held its mid-term seminar at the University of Science and Technology Beijing on September 4, 2022.

Over 20 members of the project team attended the meeting, and the team presented a report on the research content, objectives, progress, results, and work plan in next stage.

Given China’s strategy to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, the project aims to help transform the traditional mining practices that caused high emissions and pollution, creating a green and low-carbon development model.

During the meeting, CAE members and experts had a lively discussion on the research subjects and provided their opinions and suggestions for the work plan. The project team pledged to incorporate their feedback to improve the research report, proposing feasible advice to achieve the “dual carbon” goal in mining fields.
