CAE members support Yunnan’s high-quality growth
A 40-strong delegation led by Li Zhongping, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), participated in a symposium on the high-quality development of chemical, metallurgical and materials industries in Yunnan Province on August 6, 2022.
During the meeting, 12 CAE members put forward various suggestions for fields including nonferrous metallurgy, new materials and bio-manufacturing. Their advices included extending industrial chains, promoting university–industry collaboration, achieving technological breakthroughs, and developing disciplines.
To strengthen the pairing-up support for Huize and Lancang counties in the province, the CAE’s Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Division helped organized a symposium in Kunming. It focused on the development of phosphorus chemical industries in Huize and offered suggestions on the industrial park’s planning and growth. From August 7 to 10, Li led a team to conduct studies in the two counties and held a meeting on the pairing-up support efforts.
In response to the urgent needs of industrial development, the CAE division organized three teams, led by CAE members, to conduct research in Yunnan’s six counties. They visited nine enterprises and held four consultation meetings with local governments.
In welcoming the visit of CAE members, Wang Yubo, Governor of Yunnan, hoped that the academy will continue supporting the province from various perspectives, including industrial development, technological solutions, talent training, and rural vitalization. Wang called for assistance, especially in the fields of chemical, metallurgical and materials, to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of Yunnan's pillar industries.
