A series of activities were held under the framework of scientific and technological cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Henan Province on August 28, 2022.

CAE President Li Xiaohong joined Wu Manqing and Chen Jianfeng, who are Vice President and Secretary-general of the CAE, respectively, to participate in the activities together with several CAE members.

Li witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement between the CAE and the Henan Provincial People's Government. He also expressed gratitude to the provincial government for its support to the CAE and outlined future priorities in this partnership.

Li said the CAE will give full play to the advantages of the academicians, focus on the province’s pursuit of innovation-driven development, and carry out activities in the fields of information communication, energy, chemical industry, new materials, modern agriculture, and biomedicine.

Continuous efforts will be made to offer strategic consultation, facilitate scientific and technological breakthroughs, build labs, and train talents for innovation, thus promoting the implementation of the agreement to assist the province’s modernization drive.

The CAE-Henan Provincial Government Cooperation Committee also held the first meeting on the day, presided over by Lyu Guofan, chairman of the Henan Provincial Association for Science and Technology. The two directors of the committee, Chen and Henan Vice Governor Song Zhenghui, also attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting also heard a report on the progress of the Henan Academy of Chinese Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy and approved the composition, responsibilities, and rules of procedure of the cooperation committee, as well as the charter of the institute.

A team led by Li, accompanied by the vice governor, also visited an eco-friendly process engineering R&D centre and learned about Henan Energy Group's efforts towards technological innovation.
