The acceptance meeting for the “Research on Arable Land and Productivity Improvement in Xinjiang”, a strategic research and consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), was held in Alaer, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on May 11, 2024. The acceptance expert group consisted of 10 CAE members and experts.

Based on field surveys, the project team conducted comprehensive research and scientific evaluation of Xinjiang's cultivated land resources, including the quantity, quality, productivity and development strategy. The research explored the relationship between agricultural water supply and demand, the evolution of arable land quality and its adverse factors, and the potential and constraints to productivity enhancement. The project formed a research report and made multiple special reports and policy advisory reports.
