The "Sustainable Development Strategy for China's Vegetable Industry in Mountainous and Plateau Areas”, a strategic research and consulting project by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), held its acceptance meeting in Changsha City on April 14, 2024. The acceptance panel consisted of eight CAE members and experts.

The project team conducted comprehensive research and identified prominent issues, including high labor costs, difficulties in mechanisation, high water consumption, underdeveloped infrastructure, weak technological support, and weak industrialisation. The team then proposed scientific suggestions on various aspects, such as the layout of production bases and the development of cold-chain logistics system, and provided multiple research reports.
