The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Symposium on Engineering Science and Technology was held in Shanghai from September 23 to 24 alongside the 2024 Clinical and Translational Medicine Conference.

Wang Chen, Vice President of the CAE, was among 19 academy members attending the symposium under the theme of Prevention and Control of Major Chronic Diseases, which also included more than 500 prominent experts and scholars and some 10,000 online participants.

Nearly 30 academy members and experts made presentations on various topics including Advances in Oncology Research and New Technologies, Promoting New Progress in Digestive Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment, Preparing for Disease X and Smart Healthcare and Chronic Disease Management.

More than 50 academy members and experts participated in a special session on the gap between basic medical research and clinical research during which they engaged in high-level academic discussions on challenges and bottlenecks in translational medicine for chronic diseases.
