From December 7th to 9th, 2025, the Academic Seminar on Engineering Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Biomanufacturing, hosted by the Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Division of the CAE and Nanjing Tech University, was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Li Zhongping, Vice President of the CAE, and Jiang Juncheng, President of Nanjing Tech University, attended the conference and delivered speeches, while CAE Member Ying Hanjie, Chairman of the conference, presided over the opening ceremony. Nearly 500 experts, scholars and student representatives from more than 60 universities, research institutes and leading enterprises at home and abroad participated in the conference.

With the theme of "Marching towards Innovation, Aggregating into Industrial Chains, and Empowering the Upgrading of the Biomanufacturing Industry", the conference set up a main forum and 9 parallel sessions, including Synthetic Biomanufacturing and Intelligent Cell Factories, Green Biomanufacturing and Carbon Neutrality Engineering, Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing and Great Health Technology, Bio-based Materials and Sustainable Resource Conversion, and Agricultural Biomanufacturing and Future Food. CAE Members Tan Tianwei, Zheng Yuguo, Huang He, Qiao Shiyan, Xie Mingyong, and members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Yuan Yingjin delivered plenary presentation, systematically elaborating on the connotation of advanced biomanufacturing as a core element of new-quality productive forces and its key role in safeguarding national food security, people's life and health, and achieving the "dual carbon" goals. More than 90 high-level talents and over 60 young scholars shared their research progress in the parallel sessions.

This conference brought together the wisdom of top experts at home and abroad to exchange and analyze the latest development trends, key technical bottlenecks and future strategic directions in the field of advanced biomanufacturing.
