The World Artificial Intelligence Congress (WAIC) 2022, co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), opened at the Shanghai World Expo Centre on the morning of September 1, 2022.

Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, which was attended by Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the CAE.

Nearly 30 members of the CAE attended the opening ceremony and sub-forums. The ceremony also included the announcement of typical application cases under the “AI Empowers 100 Scenarios” initiative, the winners of the SAIL Awards, and the significant applications of the meta-universe.

With the theme of "Intelligent Connectivity, Infinite Multiverse", the WAIC 2022, held from September 1 to 3, invited experts to express their views and exchange ideas on industrial development and technological innovation, with more than 10 industry-themed forums on projects development, security governance and other fields. Also held were activities to mark the fifth anniversary of the conference, project roadshows, and matchmaking sessions for investment and financing.
