CAETS Communications Committee holds online quarterly meeting in March
The International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS)’s Communications Committee held its quarterly meeting online on March 26, 2024, presided over by the committee’s chair Lucas Noldus, who is also chairman of the International Committee of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE). Professor Wu Zhiqiang of Tongji University, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), participated in the meeting and held in-depth exchanges.
During the meeting, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), serving as the secretariat for the CAETS Communications Committee, reported on this year's annual work plan and recent developments, and also detailed the status of nominations for the 2024 CAETS Communications Prize by member academies. The meeting further discussed the future development and collaborative projects, calling for more academies to join the committee. Professor José from Mexico was invited to present a report on the efforts of the Academy of Engineering of Mexico to disseminate innovation strategies, policies, and practices.
The Secretary-Treasurer of CAETS attended the meeting together with representatives from the CAE, the US National Academy of Engineering, the Academy of Engineering of Mexico, the ATSE, the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, Royal Society Te Aparangi (New Zealand), the Netherlands Academy of Engineering, and the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). All parties expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in engineering and technology.
Lucas Noldus emphasised that the member academies have enhanced communication and trust through collaboration with the CAETS Communications Committee, achieving significant results. He expressed the hope to work together with all parties to foster exchange and cooperation as well as promote the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and jointly address global challenges.
