The 2025 China-Korea Development Forum on Engineering Sciences and Technology was Successfully Held
On November 21, 2025, the 2025 China-Korea Development Forum on Engineering Sciences and Technology, co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAKE), was successfully held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. More than 200 experts and scholars attended the seminar, conducting in-depth exchanges around the theme of "Engineering Science and Technology Empowering Marine Sustainable Development" and discussing new paths for marine science and technology cooperation.

Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Yoon Eui-joon, President of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Li Zhongping, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, presided over the opening ceremony.
Prof. Wu Minghong, CAE member and President of Fuzhou University, and Lee Hee-seung, President of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, delivered keynote reports respectively. Prof. Chen Songlin, Mai Kangsen, Li Yang and Yan Xinping, members of the CAE, Han Seung-heon, Vice President of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, Park Jae-woo, Academician of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and Chairman of the International Relations Committee, as well as Korean academicians including Lee Cheol-gyun, Cha Hyung-jun and Kim Se-hoon, presided over or delivered reports in the special sessions.
Li Xiaohong pointed out that the ocean is an important part of the Earth's life support system. China and the Republic of Korea are separated by the sea and each has its own advantages in the field of marine engineering science and technology. Deepening cooperation is not only an inherent demand for the scientific and technological development of the two countries, but also a common responsibility to address global marine environmental challenges. Yoon Eui-joon stated that he expects to take this conference as an opportunity to promote cross-disciplinary cooperation between China and the ROK and jointly boost the development of marine science, technology and industry in East Asia.
The conference set up three topics and panel discussion sessions: "Marine Biotechnology", "Marine Environment and Carbon Sink Engineering Science and Technology", and "Port Logistics Engineering Science and Technology". Participating experts exchanged the latest research results and practical experience around the above topics, and conducted in-depth discussions on future cooperation directions. This seminar deepened mutual trust and cooperation between China and the ROK in the field of marine engineering science and technology, and contributed wisdom and solutions to the green development of global marine resources and ecological environmental protection.
Before this Forum, both CAE and NAEK held bilateral talks to determine the cooperation topics for the next session and the future cooperation direction of the two academies. The Korean delegation also conducted on-site investigations on Fujian Port Group and the marine economy science and technology innovation highland, gaining an in-depth understanding of China's practical achievements in port intelligent construction and marine industry development.
