IEEE Climate Change Committee Chair Visits CAE
On October 23, 2025, Ding Ning, Deputy Director General (Acting Head) of the Department of the International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), met with the visiting Prof. Tariq Durrani—Chair of the Climate Change Committee of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), and Prof. of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK. The two sides exchanged views on issues including climate change response, industrial applications of artificial intelligence, and international cooperation.

Ding Ning stated that the CAE attaches great importance to cooperation with international science and technology organizations in cutting-edge fields such as climate change and artificial intelligence, and is willing to further strengthen exchanges and coordination with IEEE to jointly promote the innovative development of global engineering science and technology. She expressed appreciation for IEEE’s efforts in establishing the "Technology Day" at COP30, and responded positively to the initiative of continuing to set up the "Technology Day" at COP31.
Durrani spoke highly of the contributions made by the CAE to advancing global engineering science and technology cooperation, and expressed his hope to deepen practical cooperation between the two sides, particularly in addressing climate change and advancing high-level industrial applications of artificial intelligence. In his capacity as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), he also conveyed the willingness to expand cooperation between the RSE and the CAE, and invited leaders of the CAE to visit Scotland at an appropriate time.
Representatives from the Division II of the Department of International Cooperation of the CAE and from the University of Strathclyde, UK, attended the meeting.
