On April 28, 2026, the 3rd CAE-SATW Innovation Forum was successfully held in Geneva, Switzerland. Co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW), the forum focused on the theme of healthy aging. More than 40 participants attended the event, including representatives from both academies, the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland, as well as research and medical institutions, universities, and enterprises from the two countries.

    At the opening ceremony, Mr. Qian Minjian, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland; Prof. Chen Jianfeng, Secretary-General of CAE; and Prof. Benoît Dubuis, President of SATW, delivered addresses. They called for deeper collaboration between CAE and SATW in areas such as academic leadership in healthy aging, transformation of innovative outcomes, and global governance, and emphasized leveraging the forum as a platform to continuously enhance bilateral scientific and technological innovation cooperation. During the academic sessions, CAE Members DONG Jiahong, CHENG Jing, JIANG Baoguo, and XU Ruihua, along with a team expert led by JI Xunming, as well as seven academy members and experts from SATW, presented and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including the scientific foundations of healthy aging, virtual hospitals, care continuum, and personalized health management.

    During the visit, the CAE members and experts conducted field research at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), focusing on engineering innovation, micro-nano manufacturing, surgical training, and international research collaboration. Preliminary cooperation intentions were reached between the teams of DONG Jiahong and CHENG Jing and their Swiss counterparts in areas such as human health devices, AI-enabled medical care, and elderly care.

    The forum and associated activities have further deepened strategic dialogue between the engineering and technology communities of China and Switzerland in the fields of healthy aging and medical innovation, laying a more solid foundation for sustained and substantive cooperation between CAE and SATW.
