During July 8–11, 2026, the 18th General Assembly of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) was successfully held in Beijing, drawing 38 International Members from 12 countries to a comprehensive program of academic exchanges, ceremonial events, and technical site visits. The gathering offered international delegates an in-depth view of China’s latest advancements in engineering science and technology, while fostering broad-ranging dialogue on deepening global cooperation.

On July 8, International Members attended the Opening Ceremony at the Great Hall of the People and listened to the speech delivered by Chinese President Xi Jinping. In the afternoon, they participated in the CAE International Members Academic Exchange, and discussed AI–driven transformations in scientific research and the growing convergence of interdisciplinary fields.

The morning of July 9 saw the CAE International Members Induction Ceremony, presided over by CAE CPC Leadership Group Secretary Zhang Yuzhuo. CAE President Li Xiaohong presented membership plaques to 21 newly elected International Members, formally welcoming them into the Academy. That evening, the Symposium for CAE International Members provided a platform for participants to explore future collaborative initiatives and reinforce mutual trust and understanding.

On July 10, International Members embarked on a technical tour visiting the National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy, the COMAC Beijing Aircraft Technology Research Institute, and the Beijing High-level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone. These site visits vividly illustrated China's dynamic innovation ecosystem and opened new pathways for deeper, more diversified international partnerships.

Collectively, the activities significantly strengthened CAE’s institutional ties with its International Members, while deepening the global engineering community’s appreciation of China’s technological and industrial progress. The Assembly reaffirmed the shared commitment of engineers worldwide to advancing sustainable development and contributing to the betterment of humanity through collaborative innovation.
