Launch Meeting of the International Cooperation Strategic Consultation Project Against the AI + Background Held in Beijing
On July 27, 2026, the launch meeting of the International Cooperation Strategic Consultation Project Research on International Cooperation Countermeasures of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) in the Field of Earth Observation Against the Background of “Artificial Intelligence +” was held in Beijing. Project leader, Academician Gao Wen, along with other academicians and experts, project team members, and relevant officials from the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the project team presented the research content and implementation plan, aligned with the vision and goal of “Earth Intelligence for All” — the third-decade vision of — as well as infrastructure development needs. The experts present applauded the overall approach for advancing the project. They noted that the project should fully leverage and integrate domestic high-quality resources, align with international development priorities, conduct in-depth research and analysis, and deliver findings that are both strategically valuable and practically implementable. The outcomes are expected to provide robust decision-making support for enhancing China’s international exchanges and cooperation with GEO, and building up China’s international influence in the field of Earth observation.
The project team stated that they shall fully incorporate expert feedback, refine the project plan, enhance collaboration and coordination, and conduct thorough research and consultation in a steady manner, so as to ensure the research is fulfilled up to high standards.
