On July 19, 2026, the launch meeting of the International Cooperation Strategic Consultation Project for Research on China-EU Agricultural Green Technology Cooperation Strategy was held in Beijing. Project leader, Academician Zhang Fusuo, together with Academicians Yin Yulong, Song Bao’an, Zhu Yongguan and other experts, project team members, and relevant officials from the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) — nearly 40 participants in total — attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Professor Duan Liusheng, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Beijing University of Agriculture.

    The meeting heard a presentation on the project implementation plan, followed by in-depth discussions. Ding Ning, Deputy Director-General (Acting Head) of the Department of International Cooperation of the CAE, expressed the hope that the project should feature a distinct international perspective and offer China’s green solutions grounded in global agricultural development needs. Building on long-term cooperation between the CAE and the European engineering and technology community, the project should integrate resources from academicians and universities, establish a regular exchange platform, and produce high-quality policy proposals.

    Academician Zhang Fusuo stated that the project team will fully incorporate expert feedback, further strengthen research on policy implementation mechanisms and supporting systems in subsequent studies, integrate domestic and international talent development resources, and establish a long-term cooperation mechanism to ensure stable international collaboration. As thus, the research framework and content shall be continuously refined.
