CAE Member Xia Ningshao won the 2026 CAETS Communication Prize
On September 15, the 2026 International Council of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS) Communication Prize Ceremony was held at the CAETS 2026 Annual Meeting held in Munich, Germany. The video "The Story of China's World-First Hepatitis E Vaccine" stood out among the shortlisted works recommended by 12 national engineering academies, and won the only CAETS 2026 Communication Prize. This is the second time that the Chinese team has won this international honor, which also represents the recognition of CAE member's vaccine research efforts by the international engineering community. The short film tells the story of the development of the world's first and so far only hepatitis E vaccine approved for marketing. The CAETS review committee spoke highly of the work, and believed that the award-winning video vividly demonstrated the outstanding contribution of China's engineering technology in the field of public health through multi-perspective narratives and real clinical cases.

The CAETS is a joint organization of national engineering academies all over the world and one of the most important academic organizations in the international engineering community. The Chinese Academy of Engineering became a member of CAETS in 1997. Starting from 2021, CAETS selects an excellent short video work that can best communicate technological breakthroughs and engineering achievements to the public in an easy-to-understand and fascinating way, and awards it the annual communication prize, aiming to encourage engineers around the world to disseminate the social value of engineering technology to the public and youth.
