China Development Forum 2007 addresses transformation of growth model

China Development Forum 2007 entitled “China: Towards New Models of Economic Growth”, hosted by Development Research Center of the State Council, was held on March 18th and 19th in Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan attended the opening ceremony and delivered the keynote speech. Chair of the Forum, DRC President Wang Mengkui made opening remarks. DRC vice presidents Mr. Zhang Yutai, Mr. Sun Xiaoyu, Mr. Li Jiange and Mr. Liu Shijin chaired relevant sessions of the forum. Mr. Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of CPPCC and President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Ma Kai, Minister of National Development and Reform Commission, Mr. Bo Xilai Minister of Commerce, Mr. Gaoqiang, Minister of Public Health, Mr. Liu Mingkang, President of China Banking Regulatory Commission and other ministerial level officials from relevant ministries and state council departments like Mr. Zhang Guobao, Mr. Xie Fuzhan, Mr. Li Yong, Mr. Chen Xiwen and Mr. Qin Dahe delivered speeches at the forum. Business leaders from home and abroad, senior officials of international organizations and internationally renowned scholars totaling 400 delegates attended the forum. The forum had in-depth discussions on topics such as “Economic Transition and Readjustment of Economic Growth Models”, “Fiscal Policies Towards a Shift in Economic Growth Dynamic”, “A Resources-saving and Environmentally Friendly Society”, “Harmonious Society and Social Policies”, “National Strategy of Self-reliant Innovation” and etc. Before opening of the forum, an Academic Summit and CEO Summit were held by the Forum on March 17,covering topics on “Key Stumbling Blocks in the Shifts of Economic Growth Models”, “Rising Labor Costs and Shifts in Economic Growth Dynamic”, “National Income Distribution and Household Consumption”, “Energy, Environment and Business Sustainable Development” and “Economic Globalization and Internationalization of Chinese Companies”.
