Yunnan to host science and tech meeting

The 16th annual meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology will kick off on May 24 in Kunming, Yunnan province, with 108 Chinese academicians, four Nobel Prize winners and about 4,000 domestic and foreign scientists and officials slated to be in attendance.

Han Qide, vice-chairman of China's top political advisory body, and Bai Chunli, president of the China Academy of Sciences, as well as three other experts will give key lectures on May 24, covering fields such as clean energy and innovation, said Shen Aimin, director of the China Association for Science and Technology, in Beijing on Wednesday.

Co-hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Yunnan provincial government, the conference hopes to attract talents, domestic and abroad, with projects in innovative industries to come to the province and improve its level of research and development.
