From December 24 to 31, CAE President Zhou Ji paid his visits to the Second Research Institute of Aerospace Science and Industry Group Corporation, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, 625 Beijing Institute of China Aviation Industry Group Corporation, Petrochemical Scientific Research Institute of China Petrochemical Group Corporation, and then the Third Research institute of Aerospace Science and Industry Group Corporation. During his visits, President Zhou got a better understanding of the current engineering scientific and technological innovation situation in research institutes and universities in China, who also extended his holiday greetings and regards to CAE Members for the coming Chinese New Year of the Rabbit, who had informal discussion meetings with them as well.

In these discussion meetings, President Zhou sang high praise for the tremendous achievements various research institutes and universities had made in the promotion of engineering scientific and technological innovation, the cultivation of engineering science and technology personnel, as well as the contribution to the construction of the modernization of China. Zhou also thought highly of the significant roles all of the academicians had played in all of these processes. Zhou introduced the working plans of the Chinese Academy of Engineering for the coming years, stating clearly that CAE will conscientiously study and implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth Central Committee of CPC, vigorously strengthening the construction of the national engineering science and technology think tank, as well as the team building of academicians, thus taking its due responsibilities for and making its due contributions to the acceleration of the transformation of the mode of China’s economic growth.

Zhou said that CAE would further strengthen its cooperation with various research institutes and universities related, making joint efforts to promote the development of engineering science and technology in China. Zhou also extended his gratitude on behalf of the Chinese Academy of Engineering to the various research institutes and universities, for their concern and care for CAE Members working with them, also for their support and assistance for CAE’s work. Zhou finally expressed his wishes for all the CAE Members for good health and good luck, happiness and prosperity in the coming New Year of the Rabbit.

The above-mentioned activities were also attended by Wang Dianzuo, Former Vice President of CAE, Li Peigen, Director of the Mechanical and Vehicle Academic Division of CAE, together with CAE Members Chen Jingxiong, Zhong Shan, Yu Benshui, Li Bohu, Huang Peikang, Liu Daxiang, Li Chunxuan, Zhong Qunpeng, Chen Maozhang, Wang Jun, Feng Peide, Yao Jun’en, Qi Faren, Guan Qiao, Lu Bingheng, Min Enze, Li Dadong, Wang Xieqing, Shu Xingtian, Huang Ruisong, Liu Yongcai, and CAS Member Lu Wanzhen, as well as many other experts and scholars.

At the discussion meetings, CAE Members exchanged thoughts extensively, offering constructive and valuable comments and suggestions with regard to the strengthening and improvement of strategic consultation, CAE Member selection, as well as personnel training issues.

Leaders of various research institutes and universities expressed their gratefulness for the care and support that the Chinese Academy of Engineering had been giving to them along the years, singing extremely high praise for the irreplaceable role CAE Members played in engineering science and technology innovation, as well as personnel cultivation. They also vowed to further strengthen ties with CAE and increase exchanges and collaboration with CAE, thus making due contributions for the modernization of China jointly.
