Vice mayor of Beijing resigns
BEIJING - Huang Wei, vice mayor of Beijing, has resigned from his post.
The Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Beijing approved Huang's resignation Thursday at a conference.
Huang is expected to work in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in Northwest China.
Huang, born in 1961 in east China's Jiangsu Province, used to serve as the vice governor of Jiangsu, vice minister of construction. He became vice mayor of Beijing in 2008.
Huang, holding a doctor's degree, is also an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
