A hybrid online-offline session in Huainan City, Anhui Province on June 21, 2022 marked the start of Research on the Scientific System and Strategic Pathway of Carbon Neutrality Development in China’s Coal Industry, a major consulting project by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

The meeting heard reports on the project’s background, significance, content, task divisions, expected results and work plan. Experts at the meeting had a lively discussion and put forward constructive suggestions on the research. They agreed that the research should focus on the "dual carbon" goals and the high-quality transformation of the coal industry. They also agreed that the research is both strategically important and valuable to society.
