A workshop between the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) of the United States was held in Beijing on Wednesday to discuss leading edge science.

More than 30 scientists and engineers from both China and the US participated in the workshop.

Zhou Ji, president of the CAE says in the field of science and engineering, China and the US can complement each other well by having more discussions and workshops.

“There is a common interest in the field of science and engineering in China and the US, and by cooperation between the two, not only can friendship between the two countries be enhanced, but their science and engineering can also be developed,” Zhou said.

The seminar on discussing cutting edge issues in science and engineering will last 3 days, and relevant topics such as nanotechnology, solar energy, things to do with the internet, and Biological micro electromechanical systems were selected by the seminar for discussion.

Joint seminars between the CAE and NAE were first launched in 2008 when the two decided to build up a bilateral platform for academic exchange and discussion. It is held once every two years and was last held in Changsha, Hunan province and San Diego for the previous two sessions.
