Dr. Zhou Ji, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Dr. David C. Wisler, Member of United States National Academy of Engineering in CAE building on July 21, 2010. In the meeting, both sides exchanged viewpoints with regard to strategic issues related to engineering education development. Both President Zhou and Dr. Wisler believe that three major strategies play crucial roles in developing engineering education, which are, first of all, “promoting industry-academic collaboration”, then “learning by doing” and finally “internationalization”. Dr. Wisler also expressed his original views regarding engineering education reform in China.

Prof. Zha Jianzhong, with Beijing Jiaotong University, Prof. Fu Song and associate professor Gu Xueyong, with Tsinghua University, together with Mr. Wang Zhenhai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Policy Studies of CAE were also present in the meeting. (By Guan Jian, August 2010; translated by Liu Chang)
