Honorary Chairman Xu Kuangdi and President Zhou Ji of CAE met with a delegation of five, led by President Susan Hockfield, from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) on June 22. Present also in the meeting were Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of CPPCC (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) and Minister of Science and Technology, Chen Zhu, Minister of Health, Zhang Baoguo, Vice Chairman of NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) and Head of National Energy Administration and Ms. Marjorie Yang, Chairman of Hong Kong Esquel Group.

Xu extended warm welcome to guests and introduced in great length the Academy’s recent work in terms of personnel training (talent cultivation), major consultation projects and international cooperation. Xu also suggested areas in which both sides can possibly cooperate in the future, such as energy, medicine, bioscience, environmental science, engineering education etc. MIT delegates said that they were greatly impressed by the development of CAE in recent years and expressed their desire to encourage exchanged visits of scientific and technological personnel of both sides as well as enhance collaboration in scientific researches.
