2011 China Xi’an International Conference on Architectural Science and Technology Held in Xi'an

2011 China Xi’an International Conference on Architectural Science and Technology, co-sponsored by the Civil, Hydraulic and Architecture Academic Division of CAE and China Civil Engineering Society (CCES) and organized by Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, was held in Xi'an from September 22 to 24, 2011. CAE Member Xu Delong, also President of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, gave welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony. Tan Qinglian, Chairman of the China Civil Engineering Society, addressed the meeting. And CAE Member Zou Deci served as the Chairman of the Academic Committee of the conference. 

CAE Member Wang Xiaodong and Hou Li’an made keynote speeches in the conference. A total of more than 140 domestic and foreign experts specialized in architectural science and technology, including Prof. Kawano Akihiko from Kyushu University, Japan, gathered in the ancient capital of Xi’an and attended the conference. They exchanged latest achievements in the field of architectural science and technology, and discussed latest trends for development. 

The international conferences was themed on “Innovation, Security and Sustainable Development” and a total of 11 invited lectures as well as over 80 presentations for sub-forums were organized around issues like “Innovation in Structural System and Disaster Prevention Through Engineering Structure”, “Architecture Innovation”, “Sustainable Development of Building Energy and Environment” and “Innovation and Application of Building Materials”. The conference centered closely on key issues for the future development of civil engineering, and is expected to play a positive role on the joint efforts in response to global energy crisis and environmental pressure, the strengthening of integration of civil engineering and other disciplines like architecture, materials and environment, as well as the promotion of sustainable development of the discipline of civil engineering.
