ICEE Launched the Base of Global Leadership Development

On December 27, 2021, the Base of Global Leadership Development was jointly launched by International Centre for Engineering Education(ICEE)and China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC). The launch of the BASE was also one of the landing projects of Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between Tsinghua University and China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC). Prof. YUAN Si, Executive Director of ICEE and Vice Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council, Prof. WANG Sunyu, Deputy Executive Director and Secretary General of ICEE, LIU Xiang Vice Party Secretary of CCCC, SONG Meng, Vice General Manager of CCCC Department of Human Resource, and TANG Qiaoliang, President of CHEC, attended the inauguration ceremony and gave speeches, BAI Yinzhan, General Manager of CHEC presided over the ceremony.

Accompanied by the leaders of CHEC, the participants first visited the exhibition hall of CHEC to learn about the company's development characterized by "Integration of Investment, Construction and Operation", especially the achievements of major engineering projects in the “Belt and Road Initiative”.

TANG Qiaoliang expressed at the meeting that CHEC has a close partnership with Tsinghua University, the CHEC’s leadership development has constantly benefited from the of state-owned enterprises leadership training program of Tsinghua University. As the "training ground" for many major overseas projects, the company has trained a large number of professional talents for the host countries and is a faithful practitioner of the Belt and Road Initiative. By sharing the advantage of its international influence and think tank attribute of ICEE, CHEC will enhance its competitiveness to create a world-class enterprise.

Prof. YUAN Si said that, according to the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement, the launching of the Base will strongly support the engineering education and capacity building of ICEE to achieve sustainable Development Goals. Particularly, ICEE proposes to jointly launch the Global Engineering Capacity Building program based on CHEC’s global major engineering projects to promote inter-regional engineering capacity building and development, to realize a global community of shared future characterized by engineering leadership.

LIU Xiang indicated that the establishment of the Base is the further integration of talent training practice between CCCC and Tsinghua University. With the signing the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement, CHEC will support the Base to become a demonstrate base of global engineering education.

Prof. WANG Sunyu emphasized that ICEE will work closely with CHEC to implement the requirements of university-industry cooperation and contribute the Chinese strength to the realization of the UN-SDGs.

The Base of Global Leadership Development of ICEE, will carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of global engineering talent training, engineering consulting and research.

CHEC was established in the 1980s. As a subsidiary of CCCC, a Global Fortune 500 company, it explores the overseas market on behalf of CCCC. It is also a leading enterprise in the Belt and Road Initiative. At present, CHEC has more than 19,000 employees in over 100 countries.
