CAE Co-Hosted 2013 China Zhengzhou Sci-Tech Achievements Trade Fair and Hi-Tech Talents Exchange Fair
2013 China Zhengzhou Sci-Tech Achievements and Hi-Tech Talents Fair (hereinafter referred to as the “Zhengzhou Sci-Tech Fair”), was held at Zhengzhou International Convention Center of Henan Province from April 10 to 11, 2013. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Chinese Academy of engineering (CAE), the State Intellectual Property Office and the Henan Provincial People’s Government. CAE Members Tang Xiaoyan and Zhang Yi attended the Fair upon invitation.
The theme of the Fair was set on “strengthening sci-tech cooperation, promoting sci-tech achievements transformation, attracting sci-tech talents and enhancing industrial development”. A series of activities were organized at the Fair, including signing of domestic and international strategic cooperation agreements, sci-tech achievements exchange and trade, innovation-driven development forum as well as high-tech talents demand release, etc. It is safe to say that this event has helped to build up a platform for local enterprises, universities and research institutes to cooperate closely with renowned universities, research institutes as well as enterprises both at home and abroad, has propelled the process of sci-tech achievements transformation and innovation resources concentration, thus displaying a new image of science and technology opening to the outside world.
The two-day event attracted representatives from more than 100 well-known universities, research institutes and enterprises from more than 20 countries and regions, and publicized around 1300 scientific and technological achievements. These achievements covered a variety of industrial fields like new-generation information technology, biological medicine, new energy, new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, energy conservation and environmental protection, new energy automobiles, modern agriculture, and so on. A total of 779 projects were contracted at the Fair, and the contracted total amounted to more than 40 billion Yuan. (By Wang Jingjing, April 2013; translated by Liu Chang)
