CAE Holds the 6th China Frontiers of Engineering Symposium for Junior Engineers
The 6th China Frontiers of Engineering Symposium for Junior Engineers was held at the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) on December 26-27, 2018.
Chen Jianfeng, Member and Secretary-General of the CAE, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The symposium was presided over by CAE Member Cheng Jing. In addition, CAE Members, including Tan Tianwei, Yu Shaohua and Gu Xiaosong, and young engineering experts and scholars from industry, academia and research circles, totalling about 100 people, attended the symposium.
This symposium had four topics, namely smart city, new materials, neural engineering and 5G wireless communication technology.
Chen pointed out that academic leadership was an important part of the construction of the CAE’s think tank. He also stressed that the talent and intellectual support could be provided for building an innovative country and implementing innovation-driven development strategies by organizing high-level academic activities and building a platform for engineering science and technology academic exchanges.
Holding this symposium is a great effort made by CAE for achieving academic leadership and talent training. This symposium is also held for selecting Chinese representatives for the China-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium (CAFOE).
CAFOE is one of the important academic activities co-sponsored by the CAE and the National Academy of Engineering, which has been held every two years since 2009, which. It aims to provide a cross-disciplinary interactive platform for outstanding young engineering scientists from the two countries to conduct discussions on frontier engineering issues.
After the opening ceremony of the symposium, group reports and reviews were conducted in four branch venues. Finally, 28 speakers and participants whose report was presented as a poster session were selected to attend the 6th CAFOE in the United States from June 20-22, 2019.
