Some 150 participants attended the 7th China Youth Symposium on Frontiers of Engineering held online and on-site at the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) on Dec 22, 2021 when Chinese participants for the China-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium (CAFOE) were also selected.

The meeting chaired by CAE member Cheng Jing covered four topics – additive and subtractive manufacturing, food safety in the context of Big Data and genomics, water sustainability as well as wearable electronic devices and human health.

Wang Chen, Vice President of the CAE, said during the meeting that cooperation and exchanges in the field of engineering science and technology are important ways to promote common development and prosperity.

The CAFOE serves as a cross-disciplinary platform for young experts from both countries to discuss cutting-edge engineering research and applications while supporting their professional development and deepening bilateral cooperation in the engineering sector, said Wang.

He said he expects such exchanges and cooperation will lead to innovative ideas.

The meeting also included group presentations and reviews, then culminated in the selection of 40 Chinese participants including poster presentation representatives to join their US counterparts for the CAFOE scheduled for July 18-20 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
