Li Xiaohong meets with delegation of University of Queensland

Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), met with a visiting delegation led by Professor Deborah Terry, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Queensland (UQ), in Beijing on March 30, 2023.


As UQ’s Emeritus Professor, Li recalled his visit to the Australian university and reviewed the past cooperation between the two sides. He said the CAE and UQ could strengthen the partnership by jointly organizing academic symposiums and facilitating exchanges between universities of the two countries.


Professor Terry thanked Li for the warm reception and his contribution to the development of disciplines at UQ. She also responded positively to the idea of deepening cooperation with the CAE and agreed that both sides could enhance partnership in the fields of climate change and carbon emissions reduction.


The delegation members also included UQ Emeritus Professor Michael Hood, also a foreign member of the CAE and a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), Professor Li Rongyu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice President (Global Engagement) at UQ, Professor Alan Rowan, Director of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), Professor Pankaj Sah, Director of the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) , and Sun Jie, Manager of Strategy and Partnerships at UQ.
