I. Background Introduction

The China-America Frontiers of Engineering Symposium (CAFOE) is an important academic exchange event co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, which aims to provide a cross-disciplinary interactive platform for outstanding young engineers and technologists of the two countries to exchange and discuss the frontiers of engineering (the English website of the event can be found at https://www.naefrontiers.org/16104.aspx).
