CAE Vice President Xu Rigan Attended Opening Ceremony of 8th China-Russia-Mongolia Science and Technology Expo and High-Tech Products Trade Fair

The 8th China-Russia-Mongolia Science and Technology Exhibition and High-tech Products Trade Fair was opened in the city of Manchuria in Inner Mongolia on July 4, 2011. CAE Vice President Xu Rigan, on behalf of our Academy, together with leaders from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government, as well as officials and guests from relevant departments in Russia and Mongolia, were invited to attend the opening ceremony who also cut the ribbon at the opening. During the exhibition, participating leaders also witnessed ten signing ceremonies of science and technology cooperation projects, such as Beijing-Inner Mongolia Technological Achievements Transformation Cooperation Agreement, Mining Cooperation Agreement signed by the Aginsky District Fuel Energy Company in Zabaykalsky Krai Russia and Fujian Investment & Development Group Co., Ltd in Manchuria City of Inner Mongolia, China, with the contract total reaching nearly $13 million.

This Expo was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science & Technology of Mongolia, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government jointly, and co-organized by Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Manchuria Municipal People’s Government. 

The Expo is composed of three theme-based exhibition areas dedicated to three major countries involved, namely China, Russia and Mongolia, as well as 8 special exhibitions. China Exhibition Area comprises of expositions specialized in High Technologies, Hardware and Building Materials, and New Applicable Materials, while Russia Exhibition Area is dedicated to Scientific and Technological Achievements, as well as New Applicable Materials expositions, and Mongolia Exhibition Area offers Scientific and Technological Achievements exposition, as well as Industrial and Agricultural Products exposition. A total of 1,500 people coming from over 650 enterprises from China, Russia or Mongolia attended the Expo. This Expo lasted three days, during which time specialized activities of various kinds were held, such as the Promotion Session for China-Russia-Mongolia Sci-Tech Projects, China- Russia Sci-Tech Cooperative Project Exchange Meeting, Seminars focused on Regional Economy and Trade Development on the borders, as well as negotiation meeting for attracting investment, and so on. 

China-Russia-Mongolia Science and Technology Expo, also High-Tech Products Trade Fair, was launched in Manchuria for the first time in 2004, and has been held successfully annually for eight times already, proving to be quite fruitful. As a matter of fact, this Expo and Fair has become a fairly significant one held in the boundary areas of China, Russia and Mongolia, for its large scale, high level, far-reaching influence, special features as well as clear-cut theme each time.
