The Awarding Ceremony for “French National Academy of Medicine-Servier Prize”, co-organized by the French National Academy of Medicine and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was held in Beijing on June 13, 2013. This was the very first time for such prize to be awarded in China. Commissioned by the French National Academy of Medicine, Prof. Jacques Caen, Foreign Member of CAE, came to China on the special mission of conferring the prize. The prize winner this year was Fan Daiming, Vice President of the CAE. “French National Academy of Medicine-Servier Prize” would continue to honor outstanding medical workers and researchers working in China.

The French National Academy of Medicine started awarding the “French National Academy of Medicine-Servier Prize” to medical workers living in China (including those who live in Taiwan Province of China, Hong Kong or Macao Special Administrative Regions of China, who work regularly in China) after official procedures of review and selection organized by the Academy. The prize intends to honor medical workers who have made important discoveries or inventions with significant application results in the fields of medical science and technology as well as management, and those who have made remarkable contributions to the exchange and cooperation between the two countries in medical sciences.

The awarding ceremony was attended by over 100 experts and scholars, including President Zhou Ji, Vice President Fan Daiming, CAE Members Liu Depei, Zhan Qimin, Xu Jianguo and Fu Xiaobing, Prof. Jacques Caen from the French National Academy of Medicine, Mr. Tsouderos, Vice President of the Servier Company, France, among others. Zhou Ji delivered a speech on collaboration between the two Academies.
